Mining Expo

This year the 29th annual Elko Ming Show began under the blue skies of northern Nevada with modest 80 degree weather; a perfect setting for this convention. For the past 29 years, the Elko Convention & Visitors Authority has hosted the annual ELKO MINING EXPO. It is one of the oldest and most respected mining expos held in the United States and draws close to 8,000 people, nationally and internationally, to its mining industry exhibits.

Mining Expo
The Elko Mining Show remains extremely important to the Service Providers of Nevada in this vertical market due to the following reason. The value of overall mineral and energy production in Nevada increased to an all- time high of $10.76 billion, up substantially from the previous high of $10.02 billion in 2011. Gold production increased for the third consecutive year to 5.6 million ounces in 2012, after more or less steadily decreasing from a high of 8.86 million ounces in 1998 to 5.0 million ounces in 2009. 2012 was the 24th consecutive year with production in excess of 5.0 million ounces. Nevada led the nation in the production of gold and barite, and was the only state that produced magnesite, lithium, and the specialty clays, sepiolite and saponite.

It is important to notice that Nevada continues to be in the midst of the Mining Expobiggest gold boom in U.S. history, as the graph of historical U.S. gold production illustrates. (Figs. 2, 3). The recent surge in production in the U.S. is largely the result of discoveries of Carlin-type gold deposits and other deposits in which gold occurs primarily in grains that are too small to be visible to the naked eye. These deposits are mostly in Nevada. And it is for this reason that GTH maintains a captured interest in this market.

Presenters from across the Mining Equipment spectrum included Service Providers, Manufactures, and Support Personnel that represented this marketplace, and demonstrated their eagerness by engaging with the attendees. GTH a presenter of Professional Solutions for the George T. Hall Company, it is easy to see that your contribution to this industry plays a vital part to the other members of this industry you become more appreciative of this Vertical Market.
