Honeywell Process Measurement and Control has recently announced several new products to enhance their offering of industrial and automation products. The new DR graphic recorder is a paperless version of the popular Honeywell Truline/Classic circular chart recorders. These are particularly of value to those in the Heat Treat and Pharmaceutical markets where electronic data storage is now required. Honeywell has also released an enhancement to the HC900 Hybrid Controller with TUV certification to meet SIL2 requirements.

The new DR graphic paperless recorder reliably records electronic data in a secure format from directly connected sensors or transmitters. This data can then be saved and archived to show process conditions and process improvement. These devices meet the new requirements set out by ASME for Heat Treat applications as well as CFR Part 11 for the Pharmaceutical market. With its similar cutout dimensions and shallow depth, it easily fits into the existing panel space to replace circular chart paper recorders. Plus, with its large 12.1” diagonal high-resolution display, it is easy to view and monitor process data. Ethernet communications, along with the TrendServer Pro software, allow for plant-wide connectivity to the recorder.Honeywell SIL2 HC900 Controller
The HC900 Process and Safety Controller is an advanced process and logic controller with a modular, scalable design that is built to work with a wide range of process equipment in a cost-effective way. It comes with a touchscreen operator interface that makes it very easy to operate. The process and safety controller possesses a flexible architecture that can accommodate the most demanding applications including heat treat, pharmaceutical, chemical and power generation. The new HC900 SIL2 system is an ideal fit for applications where plant and operations need to be quickly brought into safe state in case of adverse operating conditions.New Regulatory Standards for Industrial Process Applications
As of July 2015, AMS2750E requires the use of electronic data storage devices. This means all paper or analog recorders must be replaced by paperless or electronic data recorders by this date. CFR21 Part 11 spells out the proper use of electronic data recording which is now widely accepted for the pharmaceutical industry. SIL is a measurement of performance required for a safety instrumented function. In the European functional safety standards based on the IEC 61508 standard four SILs are defined, with SIL 4 the most dependable and SIL 1 the least.Click here for more information on regulations and standards or contact the GTH branch near you.
